This book has suddenly inspired me out of my cooking rut, which is no small feat. Most cookbooks really turn me off by seeming too fussy, too 'hip,' or too wordy without enough pictures. (I need to SEE the end result of what I am trying to make - I really do.) By no means am I a part of this paleo lifestyle the kids are talking about these days, but I do aim to avoid sugar and starches when I cook at home. Vegan, vegetarian, and "classic" cookbooks have historically been my main sources of food inspiration. My 'specialties' over the years have mainly been gloppy Mexican, muddled curries and stir-fries, breakfast for dinner, and the ever-reliable combination of sweet potatoes with lentils. Highlights from this paleo cookbook include sweet potato crepes, Moroccan meatballs, Macadamia nut pesto, bacon and chard "egg muffins," and a parsley, orange, caper, red pepper, and radish tuna salad. The author's goal is to show you how to use a range of paleo-friendly ingredients in a flexible menu. The author of this cookbook and I seem to have similar ideas about food prep - the recipes are easy, clear, and very open to the possibility of substitutions.
