I have absolutely no idea what the point of this novel is. There are numerous subplots that have absolutely nothing to do with anything. The play between Porfiry and Raskolnikov is the only interesting part but is clogged down by waaaay too much exposition on the student's part. It's like a really drawn out, watered down Poirot. I was so incredibly grateful to be done with it.
