I found a vintage 1951 copy of this book on the library's sale table. "For a dollar I can learn how to stop worrying and start living?" I thought. "And it's adorable and red!"

Turns out that Dale Carnegie also wrote How To Win Friends and Influence People. This book doesn't claim to have anything new, but summarizes and illustrates what we already know but tend to forget or talk ourselves out of practicing. "You and I don't need be be told anything new.... The purpose of this book is to....kick you in the shins and make you do something about applying [these truths:]."

The stories of real life people were abundant, and I wound up skimming a lot of them. But most of what he says lines up with Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity, which I found very helpful, and the Bible. Prayer, Carnegie says, is the perfect cure for worry.
