it was amazing
bookshelves: picture-book, school-age-programs, school-age-younger

Oh, man, is this a moving book. This is another one of those which would be fantastic for preschool or early school-age storytime, but I would not be able to read it out loud without my voice breaking up. I don't even have anyone very close to me serving overseas at the moment, and I'm deeply affected by this book. There aren't many words, and the illustrations, especially the facial expressions of the characters, are perfect. From the moment I saw the main boy's face, I liked him and wanted to see his story unfold, and I'm grateful I kept reading. This is one of those stories that's about one topic but can be enjoyed and appreciated even by those who are not personally going through the same things as the protagonist. Well done, Greg Ruth! (Now I need to go blow my nose.)
