There's something about Russia that's always intrigued me. While I firmly believe that Vladimir Putin is a horrible, horribly human being, I can even appreciate him in a sort of 'sad excuse for a Bond villain' sort of way. Ian Frazier is supposed to be an amazing travel writer, and Travels in Siberia got stellar reviews. I thoroughly enjoyed the first dozen or so pages, after which I realized that I was up for a long magazine article length travel essay on Siberia, but not a 471 page book.
