really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, youngadult, 2010, dystopia

It was a pretty fitting end to the series, and I enjoyed it. It could be just as violent and sad as the others, and a lot of the book focused on the people who had been damaged by the capitol trying to regain control and work through what is left for them. Mockingjay is much less action-packed than its predecessors, but it doesn't make for slow reading. There are definitely some unexpected twists in the end. The Hunger Games universe has never shied away from harsh realities before, so while the end is much less than fairy tale, I finished the series satisfied.
