One of the real nice things about these books is that the science is consistent and logical. You always know the result of some physical action because it strays so slightly from our physics, yet it manages to well justify airships. It's good work, and leaves much scope for the imagination.

Furthermore, the characters are similarly enamored with their environment--both the fantastical elements of strange new creatures in their world and with the [relatively more] simple joys of flight.
