This is a solid young adult dystopian novel. It may provide a useful introduction to science fiction for a younger audience, but many of its elements will appear predictable to a more genre-savvy YA reader. Some of the plot points and world-building ingredients seem contradictory, problematic, or incompletely realized, and the ending wraps up all of the "big questions" much too neatly for my taste. Despite this, I appreciate the claustrophobia and paranoia of this dystopian world.
