Ken hey lisa,
i remember reading and enjoying this as a teen when i was very interested in upotian ideas. recently i heard an old audiotape of alan watts critiquing this book. definitely worth the hear.

Lisa Vegan Ken, I still like the utopian/dystopian books. But I especially liked them as a teenager also. I’ll see if I can find the Alan Watts audio at some point. It’s been so long since I’ve read this book, but I did really like it.

Lucille Lisa! OMG. Alan fucking Watts! The Way of Zen. What memories. The one thing I took away from this book was the phrase 'here an now". Do I remember correctly: wasn't there a bird (parrot I guess) who kept repeating that phrase? And isn't it really all about the here and now? Such a simple concept but SO difficult to embrace without looking behind, or ahead.
