liked it

This was not my favorite book by Uncle Stevie. I certainly liked it, because he has a such a way with telling a good yarn. His stories are full of history and pop culture, and often employs the slow build of tension. I'd read that this book was his re-entry into the classic horror genre, so I was prepared for anything except for what I got. I wouldn't call this horror.

It felt more like a personal rant against religion. And I don't have a problem with that, don't get me wrong. He wouldn't be the first or the last, and everyone is entitled to question faith, higher powers, heaven, hell and God's master plan. Mixed in there are also themes of addiction as well. So perhaps this was more an effort in Stevie casting out his own demons rather than scaring us with ones he has conjured from his imagination.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Especially for those who find some of his scarier work too much to handle. Just keep an open mind and go along for the ride.
