Alannah Foley was born in Australia and returned with her parents to England when she was a young girl. Alannah’s desire to see her birth place fueled the need to sell everything and head for Australia with her sister Ruth – and in her early twenties, she did just that.

Sydney, Brisbane, parts of NSW and Queensland became part of Alannah’s life, and with Ruth returning to England, she was able to play tourist at her own pace. When Alannah discovered she had another sister, and then her search located Lyn in Queensland, the meeting and getting to know her opened up a whole new section of her life. After finding the grandmother who had abandoned Alannah’s mother in an orphanage, Alannah decided it was time to return to England – to her dad and the rest of her family. The days of sun and surf were over – but would she ever return?

The Jacaranda Trail by Aussie author Alannah Foley is an interesting story of a short period of the author’s life, set in the outback of NSW and the dusty countryside of Queensland, as she searches for her identity. Recommended.
