Sixteen year-old Alton is recruited to drive his blind Uncle Lester to bridge tournaments four times a week and serve as his cardturner, which means he plays the cards that Uncle Lester tells him to play without asking questions. Since I know the basic rules of bridge, I could somewhat follow the many lengthy descriptions of bridge hands, but I worry that the books offers way too much detail to interest most middle-school readers.
