Very good thriller that keeps you reading. The evil is always lurking in the background, the reader gets a glimpse into his sick mind from time to time. However, we never get to know his real motive for all the murders and what exactly he gets from the procedures. Probably because there is no plausible reason for it.

I didn't understand some of the decision of the detectives, for example since they knew from quite early on that they have to look for their unsub among the hospital personell why they never checked who also worked in Savannah, or who might have the hair/skin anormality they were looking for. But overall it was ok.
What I really find annoying is the German title "Die Chirurgin", the FEMALE form. It's made clear in the book several times that "the Surgeon" refers to the definitely MALE killer. I guess the responsible person in the publishing house didn't read the book at all and might have thought that the title refers to the central victim and not the killer.
