I very much enjoyed this fun, entertaining little "intro to linguistics" book. A past reviewer claims it is being marketed to adults; I guess the inside jacket seems pretty clear to me that it is aimed at young people. And a fun book for them it is! My own teens are more interested in linguistics than normal, since I teach them at home and *I* am interested in linguistics--I even have a son contemplating majoring in linguistics in college. So some of this will not be new for them, but it is still fun to read, and I appreciate the several chapters dealing with language change and such fun new language twists as IM'ing, tweeting, emailing, etc. I also appreciate that, since it is aimed at young people, it does not have the nearly-obligatory chapters on profanity that so many history-of-language books seem to include.
