really liked it
bookshelves: historical-romance, western-cowboy, series

As with the rest of this series, the story starts with a great description of the hero's demons, this time relieved and made worse by drink. For this story, there is less violence and more focus on the Devils settling down, as well as the ongoing struggle of the hero against booze. The description of the secondary characters is perhaps not as good as the previous books, but the focus on the hero and heroine is sharper as a result.

You really get a great understanding of the desperation the Devils each suffer, and even though the heroines' plight is well-described, I welcome the focus on the heroes. They really are the stars of this series.

This story is not a standalone. You really need to read the preceeding book or it will make no sense whatsoever.

Lori I so adore this book. I think it's the best of the series.

Ruth I LOVED this one and also Luke's story. Both great reads.
