Perhaps I can't relate to the exigency of the moment in which these stories were written, not having been a bitter single adult woman of the 1970s and 80s (I didn't hit that stage until well into the 90s). What I'm trying to say is that these stories were dated and didn't necessarily hold up over time as anything more than nostalgic time capsules (kind of like the Airplane movies or Xanadu). That being said, they were well-written and interesting once I accepted them as such.
