I recieved this book from a friend, and ripped through it this past week whilst juggling work and a sick daughter. The Martian was a solid and entertaining read, with some hilarious moments and lines from the protagonist that had me chocking on my coffee at times (the Aquaman line springs to mind). I enjoyed the macgyveresque moments throughout the novel, and really got a sense of the dangers and fragility of space travel. If I had one criticism it would be that I just couldn't relate to the other minor players in the story. All in all a very solid story and worth a look.

3.5 out of 5 stars.
