I found this book tedious. It is intentionally written in a boys' adventure book style, set in a post-oil America, during a war with the "Dutch" over Arctic ports. The ideas were interesting, and the setting was interesting, I just thought the way the story was told was laborious and at times uninteresting. I'd rather hear Calyx's story, or Sam's, than read about the world through the naive Adam, while understanding that was also the point.
