Sara's Reviews > Ordinary Thunderstorms
I liken the experience of reading this book to watching tv. And it's not the only channel on tv. I developed the compulsion to finish it to the end just to get that slight sexual release of completion. Boyd uses words I need to look up in the dictionary, which is jarring in the context of the plot of this novel, as well as used in a way that is alienating. There was one point where I felt a euphoric elation, near the end, a turn of phrase that was just right- that is what endeared me to boyd in the first place, his short stories are full of these moments.
