Alexandrie is a poor French girl who accidentally finds that she loves to dance. Her overworked, miserable mother decides that training her daughter for the Paris Opera Ballet will bring her the kind of life she was destined for. Slow going read until Alexandrie makes it to Paris and meets Degas then it gets a little better. The dance, art, and historical references are the best part of this novel...
