Linda writes her about her own adventures as captain of a swordfishing vessel. I was swept along by the gritty, peppery, unpredictableness of it all. While most of the text is narrative, it is interspersed with dialogue between the crew who are equal to wild west cowboys in many respects. I didn't envy her job corralling those wild stallions and making the tough choices that made her trips profitable. I learned that other people who love what they do periodically wonder if they've missed out on something by choosing the life they lead. It made me feel better about wondering if my life is what I would pick if given the chance to pick again. There is a lot of profanity, but the tale wouldn't ring true if the character of the fishermen was glossed over.
