This could be one of the best love stories ever. The estrangement and subsequent rekindling of passion between a man and his wife is simply beautiful. The Scarlet Pimpernel is an enticing character. The heroine somewhat irritating at times, and ironically witless, but I can deal with that all things considered. My main gripe about the book? The constant references to Marguerite's beauty. She is brave, impassioned, and clever. But all that seems to matter is her beauty.
