From the opening page you know you are in the hands of a real writer with this book and it doesn't take long before you also know you have your work cut out for you. There were scenes of such brillance, the shaving scene resonated with me having performed that task for my 90 year old father several times now. The scene of Howard's attack in the dining room was another that had me riveted. But, oh those musings on nature and clocks.
