it was amazing
bookshelves: teen, science-fiction

"I am drowning in blood. Not mine. The blood of the billions who died before me, an infinite sea of blood that envelops me and bears me down to the lightless bottom."

I have so. much. love. for this book. It's heartbreaking and sometimes tough to read, but it kept me racing through the pages. With a whole platoon of gray characters, it's hard to know who is "good," who is "bad" and who is just human. What does humanity mean? Where is the tipping point? "Now it's complicated. I didn't kill Jumbo for the same reason I didn't want to kill Bob. Kill enough Jumbos, murder enough Bobs, and you've plunged to the same depths as the ones who shove a bomb down a toddler's throat."

Leverage, motivation, death, love, hope, trust, despair, sacrifice. Amazing. (Rebekah)
