really liked it

I should probably have given this 5 stars for how ahead of its time it was, but I think I've read too many Africa books to see this one as life-changing. If you are new to Africa lit then I'd say this *is* a great place to start (and serves as a good counterpart to Nelson Mandela's autobiography) -- and don't worry, other stories are def more uplifting.

Clare ha, what other stories??! Not Nadine Gordimer, thats for sure...or J.M. Coetzee...but seriously if you have uplifting yet well written SA books to pass along, please recommend!
