it was amazing
bookshelves: americana, made-me-cry
Recommended for: anyone looking for some internal stillness

Mmm. Wonderful. Excellent counterpoint to The Great Gatsby. It's been a while since I've read the book, but there is a stillness in the prose that has remained with me. It is the story of a woman's journey from pride to dignity - they are quite different - and the internal revolution that takes place as she asserts her own will, her own voice. Though quite short, it is a tremendous work. I look forward to re-reading it in another few years.
