The Establishment: And How They Get Away with It

Truly, if I could suggest one book that everyone in Britain should read, it would be this.
If you are disillusioned with politics, politicians, and how this country is run, you should read it. If you are actively engaged with politics, whether as a voter, activist, or elected representative, you should read it. If you really couldn't give a crap but have somehow still made it to the end of this paragraph, you should read it.
In The Establishment, Jones has bought together hundreds of examples of how the modern established way of thinking amongst the political, business, and media elite has allowed a rich few to exploit the assets and revenue provided by the tax payer. He highlights the close knit nature of those at the top, and how government legislation, backed up by vociferous media campaigns, is being written to benefit an increasingly smaller pool of the richest in our society, literally with their help.
What is more, Jones illustrates how this came to be in spite of the post-war viewpoint that created the NHS, and offers a plan on how things can and should change. Read it, realise what a ride we've all been taken on, and help change the established way of thinking.

Just started reading this but a very helpful review anyway - many thanks. I think this is number 3 in the list of books about 'stuff that's guaranteed to annoy you and is basically very wrong with the world' I've read this year - others being Capital in the 21st century and Flash Boys.
