A unique writing style combined with a great storyline makes this a strong read. I've heard much about the book, but it lives up to the praise. Egan's playing with traditional timeline format will lead many to go back and trace people once mentioned and now centered in a section. Her characters of full of depth and realistic -- she avoids the cardboard caricatures. I was apprehensive about the long "PowerPoint" section, thinking it may be a gimmick. But it works very well as a young girl's slide journal and it raises some of the most interesting questions in the book, centered around the idea of the "pause."
