3.5 stars. The first 2/3 of this book I loved and was totally blown away. But the last 1/3 was weird and almost jarring... it went from a narrative to a bunch of random tidbits, like essays almost, as though they were slapped onto the end because the manuscript had to come in at xx,xxx words. It even changed verb tense a couple of times and I definitely had to keep myself from skimming those last pages. I wanted to know more about Tony's experience versus random other people and their quirks. And I really wanted more on his time in Provincetown! That said, I love his writing style and was utterly fascinated by his climb in the culinary world. Not a book I ever would've picked up if not for book club, but very glad I did.
