really liked it

** spoiler alert ** Overall I enjoyed the story. The plot was sufficently suspenseful and interesting to keep me entertained. The background love interest was not overly mushy or obnoxious in a way that distracts from the action, and the religous conflicts were again far enough in the background not to be preachy or annoying. I also think the set-up for the O'Malley series is incredibly clever.

The only downside was I felt the main character's conversion to Christianity was overly simple in a way that made it seem not believeable. For such a smart woman to have such logically founded questions to convert from only one experience with prayer was fairly unreasonable. She didn't even doubt where her answer could have come from, whether that be God, her mind, or chance.

Otherwise, The Negotiator was a fun read. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
