really liked it
bookshelves: horror

I was expecting a lot reading this because I previously read and LOVED Thomas Tryon's The Other. Though I thought this book wasn't nearly as good as The Other I could definitely tell it was by the same author from the book's style and tone. The cover flap of the copy I read described this book as being "larger and more richly wrought" than The Other... after reading the entire book I could see where they were coming from with this claim. While a lot of the book seemed to spend a lot of time setting up the story and introducing you to the town and townspeople of Cornwall Coombe towards the end of the book everything really came together in an exciting and intense kind of way. It really put to mind something I read or heard somewhere recently about how you really have to pay attention to the details because every detail revealed will play its part in the end. I forget what that saying was referencing but that's what came to mind when I finished this book. Still and fan of Thomas Tryon!
