Hannah's spent the past six years running from sad small town to sad small town as her father tries to evade his past and their creditors. They finally land in Maplecrest. There are an awful lot of empty houses there, and all the beautiful cheerleaders look the same and have names that start with M. Will Hannah be an outsider there, as she is everywhere, or does she stand a chance of joining the popular girls? And just what will that chance cost her? Is her new unpopular friend Lukas crazy from reading too many horror comics or... just right?

This was a fun fast read, but not a great one. Hannah is wishy-washy all the way through, which gets annoying but is necessary for the book to run as it does. Everything feels a little underdeveloped. Her father is a clueless idiot throughout, which makes the end more amusing -- it did not end quite the way I would have guessed it would. Yes, there's A Big Showdown, but what happens after that says that it's not going to win the war for her.
