really liked it
bookshelves: big-white-square

Yes, I really enjoyed it. I imagine someone threw Dreiser's 'An American Tragedy' at this James M. Cain and said "Re-write this for the cash-strapped 30s. More sexy. More west coast. Cars, not boats. Write in a puma."

In the UK, everyone's moaning because postmen don't ring at all anymore. They just put a "while you were out" card through the door, even when you are in. It saves them from carrying the parcels around with them. Aren't they called "mailmen" in the United States? In which case, I wonder if "The Postman always rings twice" sounds a bit sexier in North America?
