** spoiler alert ** Seriously, the TV series proves you can polish a turd.

The Dexter books aren't hard to read; they're hard to swallow. Good for a plane ride or an afternoon in the garden with a beer in the sunshine.

Not anything close to expert writing - and in this case, I have a feeling that some really bad editing had a hand. The book dawdles along to the final chapters, where it hurtles along plotlines that make little sense, some weird stuff happens in the shadows, Dexter gets a headache and then we get a tagged on epilogue that is (apparently) supposed to have us on tenterhooks but I was that bored of having my intelligence insulted by this stage that I all I felt was "so what?"
