it was amazing

This is one of my new favorite books. Hints of magical realism and adventurous style, combined with race and class politics and a fine story. I love the real elements thrown in from the author's nonfiction work around the border, and the town of Kankakee, IL.
After reading this and his short story collection, I'm hooked on Urrea.
