I learned so much and was at times moved to anger, laughter, and sadness by the history of the Iranian Revolution. Satrapi skillfully brings us not only into the history of Iran but also into her life as she comes of age during this tumultuous period. I think for people my age, this book is especially poignant because as I read about her childhood I relived my own. Like me, Satrapi's formative years were the 80's and 90's. I saw these decades from someone else's persepctive on the other side of the world under a completely different kind of government. It was extremely eye-opening!
