it was ok

This book is almost too bizarre. Other reviews have said it was humorous, but after the first 1/4 of it, I no longer thought that it was funny, just sad. Could not stand the parts about the despicable brother, Kyle. He invariably ends up having sex with everyone he meets, no matter what gender and usually within 10 minutes of meeting them! Sita the cousin is an absolute nut job too. Actually the only slightly likeable character is Celestine, and she had a small part. The daughter Dot is a spoiled brat and the adults don't have a clue how to handle her (understandable since all the adults had no parental guidance either). But come on, no common sense. If Dot is in Erdrich's first book, Love Medicine, I'll take a pass on that one.
