I thought I had realistic expectations going into this book. It's a young adult novel based on Sex and the City, so I figured it wouldn't be literature of great substance. And still, I was underwhelmed. Teenage Carrie and her friends were annoying, and their problems were stupid. I repeatedly wanted to smack the love interest.

The only reason I gave this book two stars instead of one was that I appreciated that it wasn't Miniature Sex and the City. None of the other SATC characters was in it (except for one that Carrie talks to on the very last page), and teenage Carrie wasn't a miniature version of her adult self. It would have been much dumber if the author did the 80s sitcom-style flashback where every character knew each other in childhood.
