really liked it

This book is quite deep into the Charlie Parker series. I had not read the preceding books (although I have book one coming from Amazon now) and clearly they would have informed my reading of this one. That being said, I really enjoyed reading it. The material is dark. The plot advances nicely. The story takes you through his past and hints at his future. The prose is tight and often tinted with a wry humor. The point of view changes were occasionally jarring but over all worked well.

My one petty complaint is the main character complained about it not really being spring in Maine in FEBRUARY. No one in Maine (or New England) thinks that February is spring. It isn’t even close to spring. It doesn’t even sit next to someone on the bus with a name that rhymes with spring. It reveals that while the author may have spent time in Maine, he doesn’t live there.
