"Sold" is a book about a Nepalize girl sold by her father into sex slavery in India. She thought she was going to be a servant in a great house and didn't have any idea what was in store for her. It was current and shocking. However, her attitude about the sex slavery was ho-hum after awhile, maybe because she had no choice and couldn't escape. The real importance in her life was the relationships within the house. The lies they tell the girls in order to make them stay makes sense if you are in their position. When relief agencies come, the girls won't go. They've been told they'll be stripped naked and left for dead if they leave the house and that the relief agencies are worse than the life they are leading. They believe it because they don't know any different. Well written.
