I found it very difficult to get into this first book. I didn't give up because I have heard WONDERFUL things about the series and wanted to trudge through the first book. It finally got good at the last 50 or so pages. I am excited to start the 2nd book! Hopefully it will be worth making it through the first one!

Basically, Anite Blake seems to be your typical sexy, smart-mouthed, trouble seducing characters you always find in vampire series. The problem is that Anita has a stick so far up her ass that she's really no fun. She doesn't let loose at all. She is somewhat irritating and not in a cute way. I am hoping that as the series continues she is a little more likeable.

My favorite charachter's in this book were Phillip and Edward. Mostly Edward. Sure, he's a crazy cold-blooded murderer....but at least he's interesting and sexy.
