When Josh and his partner fall in love with an upstate New York mansion, buy it on a whim, and begin raising goats, they learn more than the typical subjects of similar "back to the earth" memoirs. Just as yin and yang are eternal opposites, so are Oprah and Martha.

The author's rural upbringing saves him from indulging in cliches about the simple innoncence of the rural lifestyle.
