bookshelves: final-project

Written and illustrated by Eric Carle. Published by Puffin, copyright 1994.

Grade level: K-3

One day, a young caterpillar was born and felt very hungry. So he ate, and he ate, and he kept eating! Finally the caterpillar forms a cocoon around himself to become a beautiful butterfly.

Children will love the illustrations and the interactive part of the book. As the caterpillar keeps eating, he eats hole through the pages of the book! I know I could resist poking my finger throught the pages.

Possible themes/units: insects, butterflys, growing and eating
