did not like it
bookshelves: youngadult, historical, war, depressing-as-hell, fiction
Read from November 13 to 17, 2010

The story follows a young soldier who joins the army during the American Civil War to prove himself as a real man. He talks about his experiences in battle and the living conditions.

Not a book that I enjoyed. Our young hero is a self obsessed obnoxious little brat, arrogant and annoying. I detested him from the minute I started the book and didn't care what happened to him. I know the book was written a long time ago but I just can't connect with that style of writing. Flowery language, over descriptive and it sounded like the author had swallowed a dictionary.

Not my thing.
