I guess I shouldn't be so surprised that Louis Sachar can write a very good book about the card game bridge. I never would have guessed that a book about digging holes in the ground would have been so fascinating and look what he did with that! In my family we like to play a bridge-type game called Rook, so I understood quite a lot of the bridge stuff. More than I expected. But wow, I had no idea that bridge is like the chess of card games! Reading this book made me want to go find somebody who plays bridge and have them teach me the game. Although I just want to play for fun, not in a tournament. That's a bit too intense!
