Usually if my original reaction to a book changes it’s because it grows on me. This one is oddly the opposite. I initially really liked it, but somehow, as more time passed, the details of it seemed to fade and it didn’t have the same appeal as it initially did. None the less, the author did a great job of weaving factual details about the real life Alice, allowing the scandal of her relationship with Carroll to unfold naturally. Perhaps my loss of interest in the book is due to my dislike of the ending, which felt a bit forced to me.
