it was amazing

My first foray into James Baldwin - this is a beautiful and tragic book that relies on a tale expertly told to elucidate the world view of a man essential to America's understanding of itself.

More than a month has passed since I finished it and I still don't really know what to make of it. There are no lessons, there really seems like no ending, it just lays out a narrative of events and leaves you to think about the meaning - and yes, the novel is as outstanding as this review is trite.

Sorry James, I just hope anyone reading this will go out and buy it.
