really liked it

I didn't intend to like this book, but I couldn't help myself. Kittle is an effective storyteller, and that's part of it. I just wasn't sure I agreed theoretically with her stance and found myself persuaded that she isn't as much of an expressivist as I thought--or maybe I'm not as much of a social epistemicist as I thought I was. Whichever, the book presents a more realistic approach to teaching writing than I'd anticipated, and one that I think we can all learn from.
