really liked it
bookshelves: nyrb-classics, 2010-reads
Read from September 14 to 15, 2010

It's hard to believe a book this daring could have been selected for the Book-of-the-Month club, in fact it was the first ever selection in 1926. The last twenty pages, Lolly's extended conversation with a controversial figure, is riveting.

Lauren I know! Isn't it nuts? A total diss to the Man. I may try to find contemproary reviews-I can't imagine what people thought of it in 1929.

Karen I'd be interested in the contemporary reviews also.
