it was amazing
bookshelves: parenting

I wasn't initially keen on any sleep-training that involved letting our baby cry but after she stopped being able to sleep through the night and relied solely on being rocked back to sleep multiple times a night, I realized some habits had to change for everyone's sake.

I tried the No Cry methods, creating a soothing bed time routine, massages, etc. to no avail. She still relied on being rocked to sleep and still had to wake up to be rocked back to sleep countless times. Our last resort was Ferber. I know so many people who swear by this method and it does make a lot of sense but I resisted. Ferber gets a bad rap but he's largely misunderstood and his new addition has a warmer tone to it. He generally explains the science behind graduated extinction and lays out a great plan in helping guide your baby to soothe themselves to sleep which allows them to sleep through the night.

And this household is truly grateful.
